Let’s make this lunch one to remember! #NHSSCA #FAMILY #CoachingConnections #GrowYourNetwork \n1:00-1:10 am – WELCOME\nOverview of Day’s Activities & Presentations \n1:10-2:10 pm – LECTURE\nIn-Season Training for the High School Athlete by John Simmons \nOVERVIEW: As teams transition from the offseason to the in-season\, the focus shifts from preparation to performance. Unfortunately\, many sports coaches will opt for more practice time and completely neglect the weight room. During this presentation\, attendees will not only gain further understanding of the importance for inseason training\, but also special considerations when dealing with different sports and their respective competitive seasons. We will also touch on the importance for multi-sport athletes\, return-to-play protocols for injured athletes\, and specific progressions for gameday lifts. \nPRESENTER BIO: John Simmons has been coaching in the field of Strength & Conditioning since 2007. With experience in the private sector\, collegiate\, and scholastic levels\, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the Marion School District. Currently\, he oversees the programming and implementation of all 30 teams from 7th to 12th grade. He also draws on his experiences as a former collegiate/arena football player\, weightlifter\, strongman\, and Highland Games athlete to help develop athletes to their fullest potential. Coach Simmons was named the NHSSCA Arkansas State Coach of the Year in 2023\, as well as the NHSSCA Southwest Regional Coach of the Year in 2024. He holds certifications through the NSCA\, USA Weightlifting\, and USA Track & Field. He resides in Marion\, AR\, with his wife\, Chastity\, and his two children\, Cash and Kylen. \n2:15-3:15 am – LECTURE\nYearly Plan for Speed and Strength Development by Nathan Moreland \nOVERVIEW: This presentation will highlight how the Greenbrier Panther Football and Athletic Performance programs plan and develop speed and strength year-round. It will break down how we build and progress speed\, agility\, and strength in the offseason\, summer\, and in-season phases to continually improve performance. The goal is to show how structured planning\, consistent training\, and intentional progressions help athletes develop throughout the entire year while supporting long-term development\, durability\, and success across football and all athletic programs. \nPRESENTER BIO: Coach Moreland graduated from Harding University in 2007 with both a B.S. and M.Ed. in Kinesiology. He is married to his wife\, Jessica\, and together they have twin 9-year-old boys. He is currently in his 18th year of coaching at Greenbrier High School\, working with the Football and Boys’ Track programs. This is his 12th year leading the Strength and Conditioning program for football and his 4th year implementing Athletic Performance classes designed to support and elevate all athletic programs. \n3:20-4:20 pm – LECTURE\nSpeed School: Positively Impacting a Community by Austin Warford \nOVERVIEW: In this presentation\, Coach Warford will share how Speed School has positively impacted athletes\, the school district\, and the surrounding community. He will highlight noticeable improvements in confidence\, performance\, injury resilience\, and overall athletic development. He will also explain the benefits of speed training and why it is a crucial component for success in every sport—not just track and field. Finally\, he will walk through the drills\, methods\, and tools he uses to train and develop speed safely\, intentionally\, and effectively\, helping athletes grow\, stay healthy\, and reach their full potential year after year. \nPRESENTER BIO: Coach Warford graduated from OBU with a BSE in Kinesiology\, where he also played football for the Tigers. He has been coaching for 8 years and was selected as the Malvern School District Teacher of the Year in 2022-2023. During his tenure\, he has been an assistant coach in football\, softball\, soccer\, and track and field. \n4:25-5:25 pm – LECTURE\nTraining Multi-Sport Athletes Year-Round by Matt Rhodes \nOVERVIEW: With so many athletes playing multiple sports or participating in both high school and club programs\, the concept of a true off-season has almost disappeared. While traditional off-season and in-season training cycles still matter\, they often don’t align with the constantly changing schedules today’s high school athletes face. This creates challenges when trying to build strength\, speed\, and durability without overwhelming them. In this presentation\, I’ll share how I adapt training to meet this reality and keep athletes progressing year-round. \nPRESENTER BIO: Matt Rhodes brings 10 years of experience in college strength and conditioning\, including 3 years coaching college football and 4 years building and leading a high school strength program from the ground up. A competitive powerlifter\, he boasts a 275-pound squat\, 308-pound deadlift\, and SHW bench. As an athlete\, Matt excelled in two sports at the college level and three at the high school level\, combining performance expertise with first-hand athletic experience. \n5:30-6:00 pm – ROUNDTABLE \n6:00-6:10 pm – CLOSING REMARKS \nSpecial ‘Thank You’ to our partners\n\n \n\n\n	Who's coming?\n\n	22 people are attending 2026 NHSSCA Arkansas State Clinic \n	\n \n\n\n\n\n \nTickets\nWho’s coming?\nThe numbers below include tickets for this event already in your cart. Pounding the Pavement focuses on engaging the community through visible\, service-based projects rather than door-to-door sales or product-driven fundraisers. Built over more than 15 years\, this approach emphasizes showing up\, serving others\, and ensuring your program and students are seen in a positive light. Over time\, the model has expanded by adapting successful ideas from other programs\, while continuing to evolve through creativity and community engagement. \n10:00-10:55 am – LECTURE\n The Art of Coaching – Strength and Conditioning by Jim Kramer \nOVERVIEW: Attendees will explore the difference between teaching an exercise and coaching an athlete. The session will challenge the idea that once technique is taught\, the job is done\, and instead emphasize the ongoing role of observation\, communication\, and correction in the weight room. \nKey areas of focus include: \n\n\n\nWhy coaching matters in the weight room beyond simply demonstrating technique.\nHow to identify and correct movement breakdowns over time.\nAdjusting loads\, exercises\, and progressions based on injury\, readiness\, and individual needs.\nEffective communication strategies for coaching technique\, inspired by proven coaching principles.\nPractical examples using Olympic lifts\, speed\, and agility drills to show how coaching\, not just instruction\, drives long-term athlete development.\n\n\n\nThis session is designed to reinforce the idea that great strength and conditioning is not about showing athletes what to do once—but about consistently coaching how and why they do it every day. \n11:00-11:55 am – LECTURE\nHow to Spark FOMO and Fun in the Weight Room by Kevin Jensen \nOVERVIEW: If you’re struggling to get athletes involved in your high school S&C program\, you may just be missing one important element: fun. This presentation will dive into our daily systems that will help you turn training into the most exciting part of your athletes’ day. You’ll learn quick\, practical strategies to boost engagement\, celebrate wins\, and create a culture where athletes hate to miss. You’ll also get an inside look at our seasonal events that fuel excitement all year long\, including an open invitation and key details about the Wisconsin Athletics Combine. Walk away with practical ideas you can plug into your program tomorrow! \n12:00-12:45 pm – LUNCH PROVIDED \nMore Than a Meal\, It’s a Networking Opportunity: Lunch at the NHSSCA Clinic is not just about grabbing a plate and catching up with your usual circle. It’s a chance to collaborate\, share\, and expand your professional network. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or just stepping into the field of high school strength and conditioning\, this is your moment to connect with coaches who inspire\, mentor\, and challenge you to grow. \nIf you leave this clinic without making at least one new connection\, you’ve missed an incredible opportunity to grow professionally and personally. The NHSSCA is more than an organization—it’s a #FAMILY\, built on shared knowledge\, support\, and a commitment to making each other better. \nSo\, don’t just eat—engage\, listen\, and learn. The people sitting around you might change how you approach coaching forever. Let’s make this lunch one to remember! #NHSSCA #FAMILY #CoachingConnections #GrowYourNetwork \n1:00-1:55 pm – LECTURE\nEvolution of Kimberly High School Strength & Conditioning Class. Kimberly Dynamic Warm-Up and Prep Work by Jason Mangin \nOVERVIEW: In this presentation\, Coach Mangin outlines the timeline of the Kimberly High School Strength & Conditioning class and how it has evolved into one of the most popular courses at the school. It highlights key changes made over the past 20 years\, including program growth\, curriculum adjustments\, and adaptation to a new weight room with an attached indoor training facility. The session also includes a live demonstration of Kimberly’s Dynamic Warm-Up\, showcasing the specific preparation strategies used to ready student-athletes for upper- and lower-body training while effectively priming the central nervous system for performance. \n2:00-2:55 pm – LECTURE\nBuilding Battleships: Developing Strength & Speed in the ‘Ships’ Program by Michael Longmeyer\n \nOVERVIEW: This presentation uses the Manitowoc Public School District’s Ships identity as a framework to build a strong\, unified strength-and-speed program. Attendees will learn practical strategies for attracting students and athletes to the weight room\, creating daily engagement\, and building meaningful buy-in from coaches\, administrators\, and other athletic department stakeholders. \nThe session will cover how to “build battleships” through intentional program design\, including gamification\, velocity-based training\, and technology\, and tracking key performance indicators. Coaches will also learn to run structured competitions that drive effort\, accountability\, and consistency\, while creating clear opportunities for athletes to improve their performance. \nThis presentation blends culture\, systems\, and performance to show how a strength program can become a centerpiece of athletic development—where athletes don’t just train\, but fully buy into the mission. \n2:55-3:00 pm – CLOSING REMARKS \nSpecial ‘Thank You’ to our partners\n\n \n\n\n	Who's coming?\n\n	51 people are attending 2026 NHSSCA Wisconsin State Clinic \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n\n\n\n\n \nTickets\nWho’s coming?\nThe numbers below include tickets for this event already in your cart. This presentation breaks down how dynamic warm-ups become performance tools that drive readiness\, intensity\, and injury resilience—while clear\, purposeful whiteboard communication builds athlete understanding\, trust\, and effort. Attendees will learn how to use preparation and messaging to create urgency\, accountability\, and culture\, turning everyday routines into competitive advantages. \n9:45-10:45 pm – LECTURE\nClosing The Gap: Injury Prevention\, Rehab\, and the Power of ATC-S&C Collaboration by Kyle Southall \nOVERVIEW: In this presentation\, Coach Southall highlights how seamless communication and shared planning between Athletic Trainers and Strength & Conditioning coaches create healthier\, more resilient athletes. This presentation explores strategies to align injury prevention\, rehabilitation\, and performance training so athletes transition smoothly from the training room back to full competition. Attendees will learn how collaboration\, consistent language\, and unified progressions reduce setbacks\, accelerate return-to-play\, and ensure performance never stops at rehab—it evolves. \n11:30 am-12:30 pm – LECTURE\nThe Universal Athlete: Mastering the Trifecta of Strength\, Speed\, and Capacity by Michelle Diltz \nOVERVIEW: In today’s performance landscape\, specialization often overshadows preparation. But championship performance isn’t built on isolated qualities — it’s built on integration. \nIn The Universal Athlete\, Michelle Diltz challenges coaches to rethink sport preparation through the lens of three foundational pillars: Strength\, Speed\, and Capacity. Rather than programming for a single sport or season\, this session emphasizes developing adaptable\, resilient athletes prepared for the physical demands of victory across environments. \nDrawing on her experience overseeing Olympic Sports performance at The University of Alabama\, Michelle will outline how to develop athletes who can generate force\, express it rapidly\, and sustain it repeatedly — without compromising durability. Coaches will leave with a clear framework for evaluating whether their current training truly develops complete athletes or simply improves isolated metrics. \nThis presentation bridges theory and application\, offering practical strategies for integrating the trifecta into real-world programming — from high school weight rooms to collegiate performance environments. \n12:30-12:35 pm – CLOSING REMARKS \nSpecial ‘Thank You’ to our partners\n\n \n\n\n	Who's coming?\n\n	26 people are attending 2026 NHSSCA Alabama State Clinic \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n\n\n\n\n \nTickets\nWho’s coming?\nThe numbers below include tickets for this event already in your cart. Athletes drift in and out of engagement\, standards feel inconsistent\, and progress becomes difficult to sustain. The most frustrating part is not knowing why athletes aren’t fully buying in. \nBuy-in is harder than ever. Attention is fragmented\, expectations are often unclear\, and motivation is frequently mistaken for structure. Without clear systems\, coaches spend more time managing behavior than developing athletes. \nThis presentation introduces The Athlete Buy-In Rate — a simple\, practical framework coaches can use to understand\, measure\, and improve athlete engagement. Instead of guessing or reacting\, coaches learn how to build buy-in through clear standards and repeatable systems that reduce daily chaos and drive consistent results. \nWhat You’ll Learn: \n\n\n\nWhy athlete buy-in is harder right now\nThe Athlete Buy-In Rate\, explained\nSystems that consistently improve engagement\nHow to run a Buy-In Audit to identify and fix breakdowns quickly\n\n\n\n10:30-11:30 am – LECTUREExploration of Annual Training for Women’s College Soccer by Sophia Cheros \nOVERVIEW: This presentation examines the annual periodization of strength training\, speed development\, conditioning\, and overall athletic performance\, providing insight into the natural ebb and flow of the year — from the off-season\, through the preseason\, and into the championship phase. \nIt will also explore how NIL and the transfer portal have influenced both physical development and team culturewithin the college game. \nOverall\, the session highlights how sustained performance and long-term success are achieved through collaboration between sports performance\, athletic training\, and the coaching staff\, ensuring athletes are developed\, supported\, and prepared at every stage of the season. \n11:45-12:15 pm – LUNCH PROVIDEDMore Than a Meal\, It’s a Networking Opportunity \nLunch at the NHSSCA Clinic is not just about grabbing a plate and catching up with your usual circle. Rather than relying on routine static stretching\, coaches can design movement-based warm-ups that activate key muscle groups\, improve mobility\, and reinforce sport-specific skills. Using dynamic movements such as lunges\, skips\, and light jumps\, warm-ups can elevate heart rate while building coordination and readiness for the session ahead. Tyler will also discuss how keeping warm-ups purposeful and varied helps maintain athlete engagement and focus. When athletes understand the “why” behind each movement\, the warm-up becomes more than a routine—it becomes a meaningful part of performance preparation. \nDiscussion session: Immediately following this session\, coaches will briefly meet in small groups to share experiences\, discuss practical applications from the presenter’s remarks\, and collaborate on real-world challenges facing their programs. \n10:00-11:00 am – DUAL (HANDS-ON/LECTURE)Foundations of Speed & Agility by Kenny Watt \nOVERVIEW: In this session\, Coach Watt will outline the long-term athletic development model he uses to build speed and agility from middle school through the varsity level. The presentation will walk coaches through how motor learning and movement competency are developed early and then progress into true sport performance through a three-phase progression. The approach emphasizes establishing efficient movement patterns\, kinesthetic awareness\, confidence\, and familiarity with athletic movement\, creating a strong foundation for long-term development. By building these qualities step by step\, athletes are better prepared to handle the physical and technical demands of varsity sports while continuing to improve speed\, agility\, and overall athletic performance. \nDiscussion session: Immediately following this session\, coaches will briefly meet in small groups to share experiences\, discuss practical applications from the presenter’s remarks\, and collaborate on real-world challenges facing their programs. \n11:15 am-12:15 pm – LECTUREThe Main Lift: Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing — And Why It Matters by Sam Zanders \nOVERVIEW: In this session\, the presenter will discuss why the main lift should remain the centerpiece of a high school strength and conditioning workout. Foundational movements such as squats\, deadlifts\, presses\, and cleans develop the strength\, power\, and coordination athletes need to succeed. When too many additional exercises are added\, athletes can lose both energy and focus from the primary objective of the training session. By prioritizing the main lift\, coaches can ensure athletes maintain proper technique\, appropriate loading\, and consistent progress over time. Keeping the main thing the main thing helps athletes build strength safely\, efficiently\, and with purpose. \nDiscussion session: Immediately following this session\, coaches will briefly meet in small groups to share experiences\, discuss practical applications from the presenter’s remarks\, and collaborate on real-world challenges facing their programs. \n12:15-1:15 pm – LUNCH PROVIDEDMore Than a Meal\, It’s a Networking Opportunity \nLunch at the NHSSCA Clinic is not just about grabbing a plate and catching up with your usual circle. Proper nutrition fuels training\, hydration supports energy and focus\, and recovery allows the body to rebuild stronger. Athletes who eat balanced meals\, drink enough water\, and prioritize sleep are better prepared to train and compete. Ignoring these habits can limit progress and increase injury risk. Teaching athletes the importance of nutrition\, hydration\, and recovery helps build lifelong habits that support health and performance. \nDiscussion session: Immediately following this session\, coaches will briefly meet in small groups to share experiences\, discuss practical applications from the presenter’s remarks\, and collaborate on real-world challenges facing their programs. \n2:30-3:15 pm – ROUNDTABLE \n3:15-3:30 pm – CLOSING REMARKSSweep The Shed \nSpecial ‘Thank You’ to our partners\n \n \n \n\n	Who's coming?\n\n	40 people are attending 2026 NHSSCA Georgia State Clinic \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n	\n \n⚠️ Event ticket options are based on your NHSSCA membership status. It creates risk for athletes.\n \n\n For ten years\, the NHSSCA has existed to solve this exact problem.\n \n\n\n \n\n \nCelebrating 10 Years Of The NHSSCA\n\n The NHSSCA was not created only for credentialed professionals. It was created for\n any coach entrusted with training high school athletes.\n \nIf you oversee a high school weight room… \nIf athlete safety\, progression\, and development fall under your care… \nIf you want clarity instead of guesswork… \nYou belong here. \n\n For ten years\, the NHSSCA has existed to educate\, equip\, and empower coaches—bringing confidence and fluency to the weight room\,\n regardless of background or title.\n \n\n This National Conference isn’t about gatekeeping. It’s about raising the standard for everyone.\n \n \n \n\n\n \n\nNatCon + PreCon\n\n Two distinct experiences. One shared mission: preparing coaches to lead safe\, effective training in real high school environments.\n \n \n MAIN CONFERENCE \nNatCon\n\n The full NHSSCA National Conference experience—designed for coaches responsible for high school athletes\, weight rooms\, programs\, and people.\n \n\nMultiple sessions and learning formats\nKeynotes\, awards\, and community events\nEducation built for real school constraints\n\n \n Registration\n Opening\n Sessions\n Awards\n \n OPTIONAL ADD-ON \nPreCon\n\n A focused\, limited-capacity workshop experience that goes deeper on a single theme before NatCon begins.\n \n\nLonger teaching blocks\nHigher interaction and depth\nDesigned for implementation-focused coaches\n\n Check-In\n Deep-Dive Sessions\n Lunch\n Application\n Note: PreCon is an optional add-on experience. NatCon is the primary conference.\n\n\n \n\n \n AWARDS + CELEBRATION \nAwards & 10-Year Anniversary Celebration Dinner\n\n The NHSSCA Awards Dinner is more than a meal—it’s a celebration of service\, leadership\, and commitment to athlete development.\n \n\n As part of our 10-Year Anniversary\, we’ll recognize coaches who embody the mission to\n Educate\, Equip\, and Empower—and who have helped raise the standard for training in schools across the country.\n \n Celebrate\n Service + Leadership\n Recognize\n Impact in Schools\n Honor\n The #FAMILY \n\n One night. One room. A decade worth celebrating.\n \n \n \n Celebrate the milestone. Honor the coaches who helped build the standard.\n\n\n \n\n \n NEW FOR 2026 \nMore Than Units. A Full Certification.\n\n In addition to earning CEUs and PLUs through NatCon and PreCon\, attendees will have the opportunity to\n attend and complete a USA Weightlifting Level I Course Certification before PreCon and the conference.\n \n \n \nWhy This Is Unprecedented\n\n National conferences typically allow coaches to earn continuing education units. This conference goes further—offering a\n full course certification alongside professional development.\n \n Earn\n CEUs / PLUs\n Plus\n USAW Level I Certification\n In One\n Conference Experience\n \n Enrollment Details Available Now\n USA Weightlifting Level I registration will be hosted directly through USAW.\n Click below to view full pricing\, available capacity\, course schedule\, and registration instructions.\n \n \n View USAW + NatCon Details\n \n \nHosted by Proven Leaders\n\n The USAW Level I Course will be hosted by NHSSCA Hall of Fame Inductee Coach Leo Totten and\n Master-Level USAW Coaches—bringing decades of coaching\, teaching\, and implementation experience into one setting.\n \n \n Questions about the course?\n Email Coach Totten:\n \n Click Here\n \n \n For coaches\, this is more than PD.\n It’s a rare opportunity to earn units and a recognized certification—at the same event.\n Expanded leadership based on enrollment\n As enrollment grows\, we may add up to three additional NHSSCA Hall of Fame coaches to support delivery and experience.\n \n Note: The USAW Level I Course is an optional add-on with limited capacity. Enrollment is hosted by USAW.\n\n\n \n\n WHY THIS YEAR MATTERS \nWhy This Year Matters\n\n This isn’t just another clinic. It’s a milestone—and a line in the sand for the future of high school-based strength training.\n \n 10\n 10-Year Anniversary of the NHSSCA\n A decade of educating\, equipping\, and empowering high school coaches responsible for athlete training.\n REAL\n Education built for real high school environments\n Frameworks you can apply immediately—inside real high school weight rooms\, with real constraints.\n ALL\n Coaches at every level\, from every background\n If you oversee high school athlete training\, you belong here—regardless of title or credentials.\n SAFE\n A national community committed to athlete safety and development\n Raising the standard together—so high school athletes are coached with confidence\, not guesswork.\n\n\n\n\nNHSSCA National Conference \nNatCon + PreCon Schedule\n\n Below is the current NatCon 2026 conference flow based on the working event schedule.
