Choosing the Right Technology for Your Weight Room by Sam McGriff

OVERVIEW: Technology is now a core part of modern strength and conditioning—from station timers and velocity tracking to advanced timing and data systems. In this session, Coach McGriff breaks down how to effectively use today’s most common weight room technologies to enhance performance, improve efficiency, and elevate the athlete experience.

Attendees will learn how to integrate technology into daily training without creating unnecessary complexity, how to interpret data to inform actionable coaching decisions, and how to avoid common pitfalls, such as technology overload or underutilized tools. The session also functions as a practical buyer’s guide, helping coaches identify which platforms and systems best fit their program’s size, budget, and long-term goals.

Whether you’re building a program from the ground up or refining an existing setup, this presentation provides clear strategies and real-world examples to help technology support coaching—not replace it.

Conjugate Training for the High School Athlete by Devin Hance

OVERVIEW: This presentation offers a practical overview of how Shawnee Mission North High School applies conjugate-style programming for both in-season and off-season athletes. The session begins with a brief overview of the history and principles of the conjugate training method to establish a clear foundation.

From there, attendees will learn how to implement the three primary components of the conjugate system in a high school setting:

    • Maximal Effort Method: How it works, when to use it, and how to rotate exercises safely and effectively across training cycles.
    • Dynamic Effort Method: Structuring intensity, volume, rest intervals, and wave loading to develop strength and power throughout the year.
    • Repetition Method: Adapting accessory work to address individual athlete needs, weaknesses, and performance goals.

The session emphasizes practical application, safety, and long-term athlete development, helping coaches understand how to appropriately scale and customize the conjugate system for high school programs.
