Overview of Day’s Activities & Presentations
8:30-9:30 am – LECTURE
Adapting the Lens: Long-Term Development’s Hardest Answers by Kyle Jacksic
OVERVIEW: In this presentation, Jacksic will go over what working with a wide variety of athletes has taught them about what truly matters. On a given day, Jacksic trains the youngest of youth to become some of the highest-performing athletes in the world, sometimes in the same day, using proven systems that answer the age-old question: “What works?” Years of experience working in complex return-to-play settings have shaped a framework that can be applied to any setting and address the hard questions that many coaches struggle with. If you have ever assessed a specific athlete or program and wrestled with the answer to a complex problem, this will be a presentation for you.
9:45-10:45 am – DUAL: LECTURE/HANDS-ON
Driving KPIs and Culture with a Competitive Environment by Parker Showers
OVERVIEW: Coach Showers will explore how the University of Pittsburgh football strength and conditioning staff leverages competition to drive performance outcomes and cultural buy-in. This presentation will outline how offseason training is structured around measurable KPIs, daily competition, and accountability to elevate intent, consistency, and player development. Attendees will gain insight into how competitive frameworks can align data, effort, and culture within a high-performance football environment. The session will also highlight practical strategies for building competitive systems that sustain motivation, reinforce standards, and translate training room success into on-field performance.
11:00 am-12:00 pm – DUAL: LECTURE/HANDS-ON
Coaching Is Like a Box of Chocolates: From Admin Fires to Fast Athletes and Everything in Between by Caroline Palmer
Overview: Coach CP brings deep immersion in private training across youth to professional levels, spanning grade school, collegiate, and elite sectors. Drawing from years of administration, troubleshooting, and athletic performance work, she’ll present on her favorite things. Acknowledging that we’re all master thieves in this field, her lecture and hands-on session deliver tactics that work—everything from speed and performance strategies to overlooked prehab gems you can apply immediately with clarity, confidence, and adaptable methods for any environment. This presentation is how Forrest Gump put it, “you’ll never know what you’re gonna get.”

12:30-1:30 pm – LECTURE
The Myth of In-Season Maintenance: Why High School Athletes Can’t Afford to Hit Pause by Travis Webb
OVERVIEW: In this presentation, Coach Webb challenges traditional in-season models that prioritize preservation over progression. Attendees will learn why high school athletes require continued development of strength, speed, and power, how to apply the SAID Principle and progressive overload within busy schedules, and how a modified Joe Kenn Tier System manages fatigue while driving performance. Coaches will leave with practical in-season frameworks and programming strategies they can immediately apply to keep athletes progressing and peaking when it matters most.
1:45-2:45 pm – LECTURE
Building a Developmental System by John Estok
OVERVIEW: Coach Estok will explore the topic of differentiating training for athletes at different developmental levels. Coaches will see a variety of levels of development with a program or individual team. During the lecture portion, attendees will learn about the why and how a developmental system was created at the William Penn Charter School and how they can implement a similar system at their institution. During the hands-on portion, attendees will witness what the Penn Charter developmental system looks like in a real-world setting.
