Yoga & Mindfulness with High School Athletes by Hailey Lusk

OVERVIEW: Mind full v. Mindful – What’s all the hype about mental health and teens? A main challenge of today’s youth is recognizing and confronting their emotions. During this active session, we will cover how to address and practice healthy mental and emotional habits with high school student-athletes, using yoga and restorative activities for recovery. Creating awareness with their mindset will help students and athletes in life, in class, and during athletic performance. Come with an open mind, be ready to move, and clear the mental clutter.

Practical Programming For Young Athletes by Justin Burch

OVERVIEW: 14-18 year old athletes are not advanced and, in most cases, need more training experience. Athletes, especially young athletes, are not powerlifters, cross-fitters, or bodybuilders. Athletes are strength generalists and sports specialists. Their strength programming, exercise selection, sets and reps, sprints, and jumps should all reflect their specific needs as young athletes. Considerations for high school athletes should include how to help them get bigger, faster, stronger, and healthy enough to endure a long season and, in many cases, multiple sports seasons.
