Boys Football Off-Season Strength and Conditioning by Chris Compian
OVERVIEW: Coach Compian will begin his presentation by focusing on the classroom benefits of strength and conditioning and why high school strength and conditioning can have multiple benefits, both in and out of athletics. With this topic, he also hopes to increase parental engagement and support of strength and conditioning through coach outreach and how to approach parents with this topic. Most of the presentation will address off-season S&C programming for male sports and the programming he uses and finds most beneficial and successful for his program.
10:10-11:10 am – DUAL: LECTURE+HANDS-ON
Junior High to College: Developing the Young Athlete in the Team Setting by Reb Brock.
OVERVIEW: The focus of the presentation will be using a multi-faceted, multi-level program to set the athlete’s foundation by teaching quality movement in the form of correct locomotion skills, posture, and basic movement patterns introduced at the Pre-Athletic Class (6th Grade) and/or Junior High (7th Grade). Properly sequenced, the progression should empower athletes to meet established movement expectations each year entering their high school years. As the athlete’s training age and abilities continue to improve, the strength, power & speed programming will become more advanced to increase training stimulus.
