Job Overview:
A Physical Education (PE) Teacher, Wrestling Coach, and Strength & Conditioning Coach/Director is responsible for providing students with physical education instruction, guiding a school wrestling team, and overseeing the design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs. This role demands a multifaceted approach to promoting health, fitness, athletic performance, and overall well-being, with an emphasis on wrestling and physical training. Key Responsibilities:
Physical Education (PE) Teacher: Instruction: Develop and teach PE curriculum that promotes physical fitness, sportsmanship, and healthy living.
Engage students in various sports, physical activities, and fitness exercises tailored to different grade levels.
Educate students on the importance of physical fitness, teamwork, and safety during exercise and play.
Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all students.
Establish and enforce rules for proper behavior during physical education activities.
Organize and maintain gym equipment and facilities to ensure readiness for classes.
Assessment and Reporting: Evaluate student performance based on participation, effort, and skill development.
Keep accurate records of student attendance, grades, and physical progress.
Health Education: Teach students about the benefits of proper nutrition, healthy habits, and injury prevention.
Wrestling Coach: Coaching and Instruction: Develop and implement wrestling practice plans, focusing on technique, conditioning, and match strategies.
Teach fundamental and advanced wrestling skills, including takedowns, pins, reversals, and escapes.
Foster a competitive and sportsmanlike attitude in student-athletes.
Practice and Competition Preparation: Plan, schedule, and conduct regular practices, emphasizing both individual and team improvement.
Develop strategies and game plans for matches and tournaments, focusing on both physical and mental preparation.
Ensure athletes adhere to safety guidelines and injury prevention techniques specific to wrestling.
Mentoring and Athlete Development: Provide individualized feedback and coaching to help each athlete improve their wrestling skills and physical fitness.
Mentor athletes on setting personal goals, managing competition pressures, and balancing academic and athletic commitments.
Administration and Communication: Organize team travel, competition schedules, and communicate with parents, students, and school administrators.
Track individual and team performance throughout the season.
Ensure compliance with league and district rules and regulations for wrestling competitions.
Strength & Conditioning Coach and Director: Program Development and Implementation: Design and implement comprehensive strength and conditioning programs for athletes across various sports, with a focus on injury prevention, flexibility, strength, power, endurance, and agility.
Create sport-specific training regimens that improve athletes’ performance, including off-season, in-season, and recovery programs.
Training Sessions and Monitoring: Lead strength and conditioning sessions for wrestling athletes and other sports teams, ensuring correct exercise technique and optimal performance.
Monitor athletes’ physical progress, conditioning levels, and development to track improvements and identify areas of focus.
Safety and Injury Prevention: Educate athletes on proper lifting techniques, stretching, and recovery to reduce injury risks.
Work with athletic trainers to assess any injuries and adjust training regimens accordingly.
Facility and Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance and organization of the weight room, gym, and conditioning equipment.
Ensure that all strength and conditioning spaces are safe and well-equipped for training.
Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with head coaches, athletic trainers, and school administration to align strength and conditioning programs with overall athletic goals.
Serve as a leader within the athletic department, providing guidance and mentorship to athletes, assistant coaches, and other staff.
Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, or a related field. Teaching certification is often required.
Coaching Certifications: Wrestling coaching certification, and strength & conditioning certifications (e.g., NSCA-CSCS, NASM, or equivalent).
Experience: Previous experience as a wrestling coach and strength & conditioning coach is essential.
Knowledge of Training Techniques: Expertise in exercise science, weight training, conditioning drills, and sport-specific workouts.
Physical Fitness: Demonstrated ability to participate in and model physical activities, including weightlifting and wrestling techniques.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively instruct, motivate, and provide feedback to students and athletes.
Leadership and Mentorship: Ability to mentor athletes and staff, fostering a positive and encouraging environment.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage schedules, team logistics, and training programs efficiently.
Team Collaboration: Ability to work with other teachers, coaches, and athletic department personnel to promote student success.

Hours:
Typical school hours with extended hours for wrestling practices, competitions, and strength & conditioning sessions, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
