Policy Statement

Our Commitment

The National High School Strength Coaches Association (NHSSCA) is committed to respecting and upholding all intellectual and legal property rights in the development and delivery of its educational programs, including the High School Strength & Conditioning Certification (HSSCC).

This policy ensures that all materials used in NHSSCA learning events comply with applicable laws and are used ethically.

Intellectual Property Requirements

Respect for Intellectual Property

The NHSSCA recognizes that all copyrighted, trademarked, and proprietary materials used within learning events remain the property of their respective creators or rights holders.

All NHSSCA staff, instructors, content developers, and contractors must adhere to all laws governing the use of intellectual property.

Permissions & Licensing Requirements

When copyrighted or proprietary content is included in NHSSCA learning events, the organization will:

  • Seek written permission from the rights holder or purchase appropriate licensing prior to use.
  • Ensure that permissions explicitly cover the intended type of use (e.g., reproduction, distribution, modification, presentation, or digital display).
  • Maintain documentation of all permissions, licensing agreements, purchase receipts, and correspondence on file in accordance with NHSSCA record-keeping procedures.

Citation & Attribution

All copyrighted materials included in NHSSCA educational content must be properly cited.

At a minimum, citations must:

  • Credit the original creator or copyright owner.
  • Include source information sufficient for learners to identify the origin of the material.
  • Follow consistent citation formatting as designated by NHSSCA learning material standards.

Responsibilities of Content Creators & Instructors

All individuals contributing to NHSSCA educational programs are required to:

  • Use only original materials they have created, materials in the public domain, or materials for which appropriate permissions or licenses have been secured.
  • Submit proof of permissions or licenses when providing content for NHSSCA learning materials.
  • Ensure that all borrowed content is properly cited and referenced.
  • Report any suspected misuse of intellectual property within NHSSCA materials.

NHSSCA-Owned Intellectual Property

Materials developed specifically for NHSSCA programs (by staff, contractors, or contributors) may be designated as NHSSCA intellectual property through a written agreement.

Such materials may not be reproduced, distributed, or used outside NHSSCA programs without explicit written authorization.

Consequences for Non-Compliance

The NHSSCA will periodically review learning materials and instructional processes to ensure ongoing compliance with this policy.

Any noted or reported violations will be reviewed promptly, and corrective action will be taken when necessary.

Failure to adhere to this policy may lead to legal action, financial penalties, and disciplinary measures, including termination of employment or contracts.

The organization reserves the right to take appropriate action to protect its intellectual property and uphold this policy.
