What the heck is a BOLC, you ask? Well, the acronym stands for “Basic Olympic Lift Certification.” The BOLC course we offer teaches the basics of how to teach and coach the Olympic lifts.
We all have heard how valuable the Olympic lifts can be for the strength coach to have in their “toolbox” of skills. We all want stronger, more powerful athletes, and training the Olympic lifts is a great way to do this. All you have to do is check out the top weightlifters on the internet and you will see the dynamic quality of their movements.
The Olympic lifts have been shown to develop power and strength, of course, but did you know that they have additional athletic benefits? Tests have shown that training like a weightlifter improves cardiovascular qualities to levels that you would only expect from endurance training. Oh yeah, and weightlifters are some of the most flexible athletes!
But sometimes the high school strength coach can find these lifts a bit intimidating. This course will help demystify these lifts by presenting a practical, “hands on” approach to teaching the technique and various assistance exercises of the clean, snatch and jerk. And emphasis will be placed on application of these lifts specifically for the high school athlete and coach in a safe and effective manner.
In the course that we offer for teaching Olympic lifts, we will discuss the why and how for the high school athlete. The easy-to-follow teaching progressions will be emphasized, breaking down the lifts into parts that all students can follow. Not all athletes learn at the same pace, so adaptations will be shown to accommodate all levels.
Do you want another avenue of making your athletes faster, stronger, and more powerful? Training the Olympic lifts is a great way to do it, and this course will show you how!
